School to Work

A collaborative initiative between King County DDD, DVR, and the Lake Washington School District

The King County School-to-Work Project (S2W) aims to help students with developmental disabilities leave school with a job and a seamless transition to adult life and support services.

S2W takes a team approach by offering direct services to students who are entering their last year in the Transition Academy. Students work with an employment specialist ("job coach") from a supported employment agency ("vendor"). The employment specialist partners with the student and his/her parents, educators, and the adult service system to help the student find a good job match before they leave school. S2W also offers case management and training, benefits planning and resource coordination for students and families enrolled in the program.
